Music

I’ve always loved listening to music since i can remember, but during lockdown I developed an “obsession” of collecting CDs. Having access to streaming services is convenient for creating playlists and exploring different genres, but there’s something nice about having a physical copy of a music format and it’s associated artwork.  My music tastes are quite diverse and range from Rock, Metal, Indie and DnB to Funk, Hi-hop, Dub and Electronic. I also enjoy live music, and have watched  Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz, Dead Daisies, Genesis and Anthrax at various venues in recent years. A particular highlight was attending the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in 2022. A sad yet uplifting experience.

Films & Books

I have many favourite films including The Sting, Jaws, and The Italian Job. However, ‘Boy’, written and directed by Taika Watiti, personally provides me with the biggest rollercoaster of emotions. In short, the film is about an 11 year old boy who finally got a chance to meet his father he idolises, but turns out to be not how he expected him to be. It is an amazingly funny, yet emotional film.

My main type of books I like to read are manga. I enjoy reading through the pages and looking at all the intricate details and ink strokes in each panel. My favourites are JoJo, Parasyte and Junji Ito’s story collections.

Drumming

I started drumming in Year 6 at Primary School and under the expert guidance of my drum tutor (Terry Lucas) I’ve progressed through my Grade 4 – 7 exams. I am currently a Grade 8 Rock School student and have recently performed with a musical ensemble, “The Kazoonatics”.

Some of my drumming heroes include Chad Smith, Taylor Hawkins, Dave Grohl and Stuart Copeland.

Expeditions & Travel

During the 2022 summer, I travelled to Ecuador for 4 weeks through the help of the World Challenge organisation. During our stay, we did lots of fun R+R activities, sightseeing, shopping (haggling included) and travelling to some amazing places across the country. We also helped out at local farms and communities, working ourselves to the fullest to contribute as much as we possibly could.

The highlight of the trip was probably trekking around the Andes. The views from above were absolutely stunning and our guide taught us so much about Ecuador’s culture and history. We even camped as high as the clouds! Everyday was as unique as the next, journeying through many different terrains and environments, all with their own species and ecosystems.

This was a trip of a lifetime and I had such a great time. I wish I could go again!
